top-tips02Keep your impression count in-line and help prevent discrepancies by implementing Cache Busters. Cache busting is a way to dynamically populate a random number (usually a time stamp) to prevent system caching. This action makes all the URL ad calls unique and not duplicated. We should ask and ensure all publishers are implementing Cache Busting macros in all Trueffect ad-tags. 

 

What Does a Cache-Buster Do?

Cache busting maximizes publisher inventory, keeps the value and meaning of an impression constant and helps minimize discrepancies between publisher and advertiser delivery reports.

It happens to everyone at some point. At the end of the month, quarter, campaign, someone comes back and says “why?” The results aren’t what they expected, there’s something strange in the reporting. You end up looking back to the campaign start and discovering – oops, there was a mistake in deployment. While we do our best to catch mistakes for our clients, there are some things that need to be personally checked by you.

 

Fortunately, these oops moments are easy to avoid if you take a little bit of extra time to follow these five simple steps:

Plan to verify implementations within 24hrs of campaign launches.  Missed implementation causes bad results.  Catch mistakes before they become problems.

Creative burnout sets in after a time and it’s important to be ready to sunset one campaign and bring on another. In a hectic business world, these dates can sneak up before you realize it especially if you’re like most companies and are running multiple campaigns at one time. Which brings us to our next Top Tip:

Set e-mail warnings for campaign expiration.  Don’t ever let your media placements turn off without your knowledge.  With every campaign you run, create “Expiration Alert” warnings in the campaign management window.
